This is the new stuff.

My name is Robin, I'm a travel agent and I also do stand-up comedy.  I have a lot of different interests, and I just post whatever I find amusing or weird.  I have a tendency to go off on tangents, so my blog doesn't make any sense sometimes.

Valley of The Dolls, 1967

I’ve been thinking that Britney Spears is a lot like Tony Polar from Valley of the Dolls.  She looks more like Jennifer, though.  If Britney ends up going crazy at age 40, I won’t be shocked.

Just got this for my Kindle.  Barbara Payton could have been a big star, but her inner demons overcame her.  She was offered rehab, but said, “I’d rather drink and die.”  This should be interesting.

Elaine Stritch rests her bike, reads a note, almost causes a riot.
NEW YORK, June 26—TOLD TO KEEP HER SHIRT ON – Blonde Elaine Stritch, understudy to Ethel Merman in the Broadway hit, “Call Me Madam,” wears halter and shorts which cause her arrest in Central Park. Today she was fined $1 and told by Magistrate Emilio Jones, “A beautiful girl like you could cause a small riot and cause a large crowd to collect by removing your shirt.” “Well,” she replied, “I was there all day and nothing happened.” (AP, 1951)

Found at the tiny Goodwill on West 72nd Street in Manhattan. Also nabbed a copy of Lucy Grealy’s Autobiography of A Face.

I have often dreamed about finding a treasure like this, but the closest I have come so far is a David Sedaris book with a signed bookplate,  I only paid 65 cents for it!

"I’m not ashamed of what I am - of how I pass through this life. What I am has given me the strength to do it. At my lowest ebb I have never contemplated suicide. I value what is here too much. I have a contribution to make. I am not just taking up space in this life. I can add something to the lives I touch. I don’t like everything I know about myself, and I’ll never be satisfied, but nobody’s perfect. I’m not sure where the next years will take me - what they will hold - but I’m open to suggestions."
Rest in Peace, Betty.

Here is Robin Williams playing Garp with his jaw wired shut.  This was his best role ever, he showed that he was more than another clown.
